1. Q: What is Acupuncture?

     A: Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese technique that treats disease and pain by normalizing the  circulation of Qi and blood flow by stimulating the energy point that promotes the bodies natural healing process.

2. Q: What is Qi (chee)?

     A: The general theory is that there are patterns of energy flow called Qi throughout the body which are related to the organs and tendino - muscular system.

3. Q: What is a meridian?

     A: The Chinese word for which (Jing Luo) means a path. In the west it is  called a meridian. All the acupuncture points belonging to any one of these groups are joined by a line. There are fourteen main meridians.

4. Q: When did Eastern (Chinese) medicine come to the West?

     A: Chinese medicine came to the West in the 1960's.

5. Q: How long has acupuncture and oriental medicine been in use?

     A: Acupuncture and oriental medicine have been used as a form of healing arts for over 2500 years.

6. Q: How is acupuncture performed?

     A: Modern acupuncture needles are made of stainless steel. They are one to theree inches in length, ultra-fine, and quite flexible. They are pre-sterilized, non-toxic and disposable. When the needles are tapped into the skin, there may or may not be any sensation. Much depends on the location of the needles, the condition being treated, and the acupuncturist's technique. The hands and feet tend to be more sensitive. Ten to twenty needles are typically placed are usually left in about 20 to 40 minutes. Sometimes electrical muscle stimulation is used with the needles.

7. Q: What is the differance beteween acupuncture and acupressure?

     A: Acupuncture makes use of needles to treat the condition whereas acupressure makes use of digital pressure to treat the condition.

8. Q: Should I choose to use Acupuncture?
